The services rendered by IEI is primarily through a variety of technical activities and functions. In short, they are :-

Dissemination and updating of engineering and technological knowledge and diffusion among its members , information on all matters affecting engineering through learned society functions comprising seminars, symposia, continuing education courses, workshops, paper meetings, conventions, conferences etc at both national and international levels.

Providing access to R&D activities and engineering practices through engineering and technological disciplines.

Focusing on new developments, techniques, products, processes and other issues of interest on several engineering products as well as calendar of technical activities at national and international level through the medium of "IEI News" published monthly by IEI.

Highlighting the emerging engineering and technological scenario and a holistic view of the entire profession of engineering and technology on various fields viz. communication, construction, education, energy, environment, information processing, manufacturing ,transportation etc through authoritative discourses and state-of–the–art reviews on specialised engineering issues in the "TECHNORAMA" published thrice a year.

Extending engineering information and library services at its Headquarter and at the Centres.
